ABOUT THE FACILITY
The Design Development and Research Lab (DDRL) is a nonprofit research facility based at Kuwait University's College of Architecture. The DDRL aims to contribute sustainable design solutions and evidence based policies. The DDRL has three main tracks with three dedicated units; Visualization , Digital Fabrication, and Housing & Urban Development. Each unit has a number of focus areas that explore the design, architectural and planning challenges unique to the local environment, predominantly the effects of climate change, increase in energy demand and inequitable land use patterns and urban development. The DDRL will contribute to knowledge production and capacity building through lectures, roundtables and workshops. Above all the DDRL aims to be proactive in community engagement to help shift the current design discourse while establishing links between academia and praxis. Please join us in producing a more equitable environment for all.
