We strongly believe that sustainable design and urban development are the drivers for quality living. To this end, the Design Development & Research Lab (DDRL) commits its resources to producing and supporting research that meets this goal. DDRL is an education, research and capacity building center at the College of Architecture at Kuwait University. It is our mission to connect academia with practice through our dedicated research units.  At the core of the DDRL are its three knowledge domain units: The Visualization Unit focusing on visualization for historic preservation, a VR Lab and a BIM VR Visualization. The Digital Fabrication Unit focuses on rapid prototyping, material science and computational design and construction. The Housing and Urban Development Unit focuses on urban housing equity & social justice, urban land governance for sustainable urban development, infrastructure & green cities and urban economic development and resilience.
